The Parish Church of San Sebastiano

THE PARISH CHURCH OF SAN SEBASTIANO

The Parish Church of San Sebastiano, dated 1631 has the late-baroque style with neoclassic accents.

It has three naves and has thirteen altars with Major. Those placed by the side of Cornu Evangelii relatively to the greater are dedicated respectively to the martyr St. Sebastian, in San Carlo Borromeo, the Madonna del Carmine, the Holy Trinity and the Annunciation.

Followed by the other side instead gl'altari are dedicated respectively to the Immaculate Conception, in S. Lorenzo, to Our Lady of the Banner in St. Antonio Abate, the innocent Saints and the name of Jesus.

Finally, there is one last altar leaning to the first column of the Cornu Epistolae of the middle dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows Holy ship.

The altar of St. Sebastian Martyr was Jus Patronatus * of the Barons Pietropaoli Molina family; the Madonna del Carmine was J.P. Cuttings of the family; that of S.ma Trinity was the first Pacuvio family and later of the families of Roccis, de Angelis, Francesconi, Virgil, Iorio and Marrama Pentima; that of S.ma Annunziata was the Mortini family while that of S.ma Conception was the first of the family de Petris and later of Bertolfi Bucciantonj and families; the altar of San Lorenzo was of Francesconi and Cantalini families; the Madonna of the Banner had Tied and chaplaincies of Sarra families, and Combattelli Pitticini; that of Sant 'Antonio Abate was J.P. the Francesconi family while that of innocent S.mi was J.P. Cuttings of the family; in the end the altar of Our Lady of Sorrows was J.P. the Francesconi family.

This church was restored after the earthquake in 1703 devastated the plateau thus taking the characteristics of the Baroque.

Inside there are remarkable stucco decorations. The bell tower in the Middle Ages was a watchtower. It said church is located under the Baronial palace overlooking the town.
